I was off from the hospital last night because my cute daughter-in-law wanted to bring her kids over to spend the night at Grandma's, since they have school off today. We had a fun night enjoying the vim and energy of little children. FUN!! However, I am headed back this morning, this time to spend the night.
Yesterday...
Big news: the case worker came in yesterday to get recommendations of transitional care places for Mom to go to, as she will be leaving the hospital this week. Mom hopes for today or tomorrow. More than likely it will be Thursday for Friday. However, there is a light at the end of the hospital tunnel! Yippee!! This time we are going to be much more cautious about the road home. Presumably she'll go to a transitional facility for a few weeks, and then she can hopefully be strong enough to come home. Our biggest concerns (and the doctors as well) are the pulmonary edema and fluids, which she still is sporting around some. But she has lost 25 lb. in fluids so she's got to feel a lot better!! The nurses said there isn't a whole lot they are doing for her that has to be done in the hospital, other than the fact that she continues to drop rapidly in saturation when she takes off her oxygen and when she does a lot of exercise. But this transitional facility will work on her oxygen, building strength, and getting her more independent and ready to come home.
We are VERY excited and Mom needs to be patient, because the end is approaching. This too will pass.
