12/16 11:00 PM - The end of a good day
Mom has had a GREAT day. Her doctors are VERY pleased, her ICU nurses can't help but be amazed at her progress, and we as her family thrill in the progress! Most of all, Mom feels the miracle of a new life...and more breath than she's had in a long time. She spent the day in ICU with nurses Tiffany and John. She gradually got all the tubes and drains and plugs pulled out of her, all the while with a peaceful and grateful smile on her face. She has entranced all the nurses and doctors with her sassy personality. She has had relatively no pain, which is good, because she has been ordered to have no narcotics...consequently she has been wide awake and lucid ever since surgery. After struggling for air and breath for the past several months and spending a fair amount of time in the hospital with large amounts of oxygen help through a nasal cannula and bi-pap machine, she has been on 2 ml of oxygen in her nasal cannula and has had 96-98 oxygen saturation. In a little more than 24 hours after surgery, she is a miracle! She has been on her feet at least 5 or 6 times, with plans to do some walking tomorrow. We look forward to tomorrow... hope of a new day with a new lease on life! Whoopee!!
