Mom did great today. She got up and walked the "block" around the unit 3 times. She slept a little but not much. The interesting update is that as I was leaving this afternoon, Dr. Karwande (her heart surgeon) came in. We had a good talk with him and he answered a lot of questions. The two big things he wants to do are: 1) get the catheter out...may not be in the next day but at least a couple of days before she goes home, and 2) shock her heart to get it back into sinus rhythm before she leaves the hospital. Mom's all for that too...she doesn't want to have to come back, get checked back in (even for only an outpatient), etc. So he's going to talk to Dr. Kenwood's office to see about getting that arranged.
The PT (physical therapist) walked her today and mentioned about taking her upstairs to TTE (or rehab), but said that they're so slammed with new patients that they don't have enough room for anyone, and since she will have help when she goes home and she seems to have some good strength, they'll probably just release her to home when the time comes...
We're headed back up there tonight with Bret & Wendy for the showing of "Night at the Museum 2" on Mom's hospital room theater. Life is always interesting around 3South12... maybe we'll take some non-salted popcorn...?
